THE KOHALA CENTER VOLUNTEER WORKThe Kohala Center is a community center on the island of Hawaii dedicated to research, conservation, and education that was founded in 2000. It is their mission to turn research and ancestral knowledge into action so that the communities of Hawaii can thrive ecologically, economically, culturally, and socially. Their main areas of interest include energy independence, food self-production, and the health of the ecosystem. Additionally, the Kohala Center is committed to supporting K-12 education in the hope that the island’s youth will be qualified for the jobs that they are creating.
