HAWAIIAN HUMANE SOCIETY VOLUNTEER WORK

Organized in 1883, the Hawaiian Humane Society was put into place to educate, spread awareness about proper care for animals, and enforce animal cruelty laws. This organization is a place for animal lovers who are willing to strengthen the bond between humans and animals through rescuing abused animals, advocating for better laws revolving around the care for animals, and with the engagement of volunteers. They are currently wanting volunteers to help foster pets from the shetler and prepare them for adaptation, as well as on-campus jobs like shelter cleaning and laundry help.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
You must be at least 15 years of age.

• Note: Keiki 6-14 can volunteer alongside a parent volunteer, so parents should sign up as the volunteer.

Volunteer Requirements:

• Parent-child teams in which keiki are 8 to 14 must attend trainings and volunteer together.
  
  • Children must have their parent accompany them at all times during their volunteer shift.
    
• Volunteers must be 15 or older to work independently at the shelter.
  
  • They must be able to work a three-hour shift weekly for a minimum of three months.

Volunteer Expectations:

• Volunteers are needed at the Hawaiian Humane Society in a variety of capacities: foster care; taking their own pets to hospitals and senior centers; adoptions events; animal care; dog walking; cat socialization and more. Help is needed in every area.
