The Hawaii Island Humane Society is working to eliminate animal cruelty across the island by providing three shelters across the island. These are for animals who are lost, injured, or abandoned. Over 13,000 animals come through their shelters each year and yet they don’t hold any limit. They also accept animals from all types of backgrounds, regardless of their condition or behaviors.

The HIHS offers a wide range of opportunities for anyone who is passionate about the betterment of the community and of the lives of animals. These include helping keep dog and cat kennels clean, training and socializing with the animals themselves, giving tours to visitors and assisting them in the adoption process, and more.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Children ages 14-17 years can volunteer with parental consent and adults 18 years or over can volunteer freely.
