HONOLULU ZOO VOLUNTEER WORKThe Honolulu Zoo is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire stewardship in our living world. The zoo provides conservation, education, and experiences to our community. It emphasizes the Pacific tropical island ecosystems broken down into three tropical ecological zones: the Pacific Islands, the Asian and American Tropical Forests, and the African Savanna. The zoo emphasizes traditional values of ecosystems and our traditional values of caring and hospitality. Malama means caring and Ho’okipa means hospitality. The Honolulu Zoo is the only zoo in the United States that began from a King’s grant of royal lands for the people.
