HAKALAU FOREST NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE VOLUNTEER WORK

Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge is a federal wildlife preserve established for the protection and management of Hawaiian forest bird species and their habitats. The Refuge has played a critical role in preventing the extinction of Hawaiian bird species, in addition helping with general wildlife protection and mass reforestation of native high-elevation cloud forest ecosystems. The Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge is administered by the Fish and Wildlife Service, of the U.S. Department of the Interior. With your help, these endangered native species have a chance at survival.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
There are no specific age requirements to volunteer.

Volunteer Expectations:

• Friends of Hakalau Forest service trips to the refuge can involve planting native trees, working in the native plant greenhouse, maintaining the volunteer cabin, painting structures, guiding Refuge Open House visitors, etc. 
  
• For off-refuge volunteer opportunities with FOHF such as staffing tables at environmental fairs, working on promotional posters, selling FOHF T-shirts or managing and tracking membership, please contact FOHF for information.
