MAUI FOOD BANK VOLUNTEER WORKEstablished in 1994, the Maui Food Bank is a non-profit organization that works to provide food throughout Maui County to those who are hungry or at risk of becoming so. They are the only organization on Maui that collects, stores, and distributes food to those in need. The Maui Food Bank serves 10,000 people every month, 40% of whom are children, and distributes 2.5 million pounds of nutritious food each year. With only 14 staff members, they run primarily on volunteers who inspect and organize collected food. They also work with over 120 partner agencies to help spread their cause. Thanks to the Maui Food Bank, millions of hungry people have received food when they can find it nowhere else.
