BOOKMOBILE VOLUNTEER WORK

Bookmobile is a mobile truck that drives weekly to children and their families in areas where they might not have access to books or other types of literature. Those behind the Bookmobile hope to give people a life-long love of reading and learning by providing them with a wide range of reading material. At the Bookmobile both children and adults can read and check out books and bring them back the following week when the truck returns. Bookmobile is looking for volunteers to read with children and assist with literary activities, as well as other similar tasks that involve helping the Bookmobile grow to become more fun and exciting.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.

Volunteer Requirements:

• Background Check
• Have a high school diploma Commit to 6 months of working with your learner
• Attend a 12-hour training course (over 2 Saturdays). You will be taught nationally recognized adult tutoring methods as well as how to use the materials and skillbooks.

Volunteer Expectations:

• ​Volunteers assist in literacy activities, read to children, help adults and children check out books and use the laptop computers. Currently, site visits are weekday afternoons.
• We ask for a minimum commitment of one visit per week, for at least four months.
