HAWAIIAN ISLANDS HUMPBACK WHALE NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY VOLUNTEER WORKThe HIHWNMS is a government-funded organization focused on the protection and well-being of Hawai’i’s native humpback whale population. The Sanctuary encompasses a critical whale habitat surrounding the main Hawaiian Islands. The HIHWNMS conducts educational outreach programs such as the Ocean Guardian and Ocean Awareness Training programs as well as scientific studies, and actively preserves Hawai’i’s cultural heritage as it relates to the humpback whales. These are but a few ways the HIHWNMS works towards its goal of creating a safer world for the Humpback Whale.
