They help promote family bonding through reading with children and adults through their RAP programs in schools. These programs aim at encouraging students to expand their reading abilities and build lifetime readers.

Volunteer Expectations:

• RAP is hosted by different schools each semester. Fall programs run every other week for six sessions, from late August/early September through mid-November. Spring programs also run every other week for six sessions, but from late January/early February to mid-April.​
  
• Volunteers read aloud to children at RAP sessions and mingle with parents and children in an informal, relaxed setting. Interested volunteers may also provide help in the RAP office, completing office tasks, preparing RAP materials, sorting books, etc. RAP is no-stress. Sessions are positive, relaxed, and fun for parents, teachers, volunteers, and above all - children.
  
• RAP volunteers share their love of reading. They are positive role models and offer children support and attention.
